FIRST: WHY ARE LIZ'S CDs SO CHEAP??? I believe it's better to have my CDs in your CD player than in my closet. Once my costs are recovered for each project, I drop the price of my CDs to $5.00, so anyone can own one. If you purchase ALL FOUR CDS, you can get them for $20.00, what you'd spend on ONE major label !
I have had the great honor of playing with and learning from some of the best country blues players in the southeastern region of the United States. Sadly, my dear friend and earliest teacher, John Madden, passed away in March, 2007. His patience and encouragement kept me practicing fingerpicking patterns long after I wanted to give up, and his sensibilities on slide guitar helped me discover the singing voice that emerges from my strings when touched with my brass slide. PigIron Shifalo brought me to the WRFG blues community and through his guidance and encouragement introduced me to the works of Tampa Red, Frank Edwards, Blind Willie McTell and many other great regional artists. PigIron passed away this year, far too soon. Little Brother and Ross Pead both took me under their wings and with selfless generosity theycontinue to share their vast knowledge of the Atlanta blues genre with me. From Mudcat at the Northside Tavern and Linthead at the Red Light to Rory Block at the Robert Johnson Blues Festival, I have come to love the simplicity, honesty, emotion and joy of the south's rich country blues heritage. I've been a lifelong vocalist, but only a guitarist these past few years, and it has been the melding of the two that leaves my heart full and my spirit at peace. A big ol' THANK YOU to everyone who puts their hearts and souls into what they create. You are my inspiration.
